This past weekend was Kaleb's High School basketball Holiday Tournament.  His team took second place.  Kaleb is a sophmore this year and made the varsity team.  His first game he only played about 3 minutes and was very discouraged.  We encouraged him to work harder in practice to earn more playing time.  The next game he saw limited time in the first half.  During the second half his team was down by about 10.  Nobody was rebounding well.  The JV coach leaned over to the Varsity coach and said, "If you want rebounds, I'd put Kaleb in."  So he did.  And he played the rest of the game, pulled down 15 rebounds and added 12 points as well as a pivotal steal at the end of the game that resulted in a pass to his teammate who shot a 3 pointer and made it to put their team up by 1 for the win.  He's been starting ever since.

During the tournament, Kaleb's team played 3 games.  In the second game he had 24 points and 18 rebounds.  He played well in his other games too...and as a result, he was one of five boys out of eight teams chosen for the all-tourney first team.  Congratulations Kaleb!!!

  1. Way to go, Kaleb! Congratulations on your award, too!
